Sometimes I think there’s a place you’ve just got to know about and my Public Service Announcements (PSAs) will give you the full skinny.
With a few minutes to spare after lunch in DC, Albert and I stopped into Idle Time Books, the store in Adams Morgan selling old, rare, and out of print books. Ok let’s be honest: I saw the bookstore and told Albert to hold off before calling the Uber so I could have a few minutes to poke around.
Idle Time has a little of everything. Most are old (think 80s) and there’s a lot of random (magazines, cookbooks, etc.), but that’s what makes it fun to go through. I found a random book about birds in French that I allllmost purchased for $40…but decided to go with a copy of The Great Santini (by my favorite author, Pat Conroy) for only $3.50. Since I didn’t have cash, my beau bought it for me…ain’t he sweet?
Idle Time Books is nothing fancy. You certainly won’t find the latest and greatest, but if you’re looking to kill some time by discovering something new, you’re bound to find a book you’ll enjoy. Plus, it’s super charming.
