These build-a-bowl places are all the rage. You’ve got them for everything from poke to salad. It’s the Chipotle method where you pick a base and then add toppings. You know the drill.
One of the newest spots is Noon Mediterranean, located right across from Madison Square Park. They’re serving up fresh, seasonally-relevant meals that have given my lunch routine a much needed mix-up.
First of all, I love how many options there are. For bases alone, you can get pita, lettuce, quinoa, barley, rice, or kale. Then you get to choose your protein, which includes falafel, chicken, steak, pork, and several different types of meatballs. And then there are the TONS of toppings and sauces to choose from. I’ve now gone twice, and both times I basically had them pile every single one on. Which brings me to the next thing I love: the price. True, a one or two of the proteins (like the lamb meatballs) result in an upcharge, but everything else (and I do mean everything) falls within the $9.95 price point. And this bowl will fill you up. I may have figured out how to get in and out of Chop’t for under $10, but that salad won’t include any of the really fun toppings, so this is a big deal. I’ve loaded mine up with with all sorts of salads and sauces, and thought it was both hearty and packed with flavor. And since they change up the toppings frequently, I’ll definitely go back regularly.
