On Monday, I was in the mood for a hearty breakfast and had some bagels in the freezer. A local bagel spot makes zataar flavored bagels (to die!) and I used that as my base. I’m not one for traditional bagel toppings – cream cheese is not really my jam. But as a binding agent, cream cheese ain’t so bad. I spread a thin layer on the toasted bagel then topped with some harissa and sprinkled on a large dose of capers. It had a nice kick from the harissa along with the salty flavor you always associate with a bagel breakfast. Super easy and an unexpected breakfast combo.
