I long ago read about Bonnie Slotnick’s on lists of the best bookstores in the city. But this isn’t just any bookstore. It’s a bookstore stocked entirely with cookbooks.
There are cookbooks crammed into every nook and cranny of this tiny basement level shop. They may not have everything, but they have something from pretty much every single category of cooking. They have cookbooks by region or style. They have new cookbooks. They have vintage cookbooks. If you want to cook something – anything – this shop will steer you in the right direction.
Many (most?) of the cookbooks are donated, which means there are some fun notes or inscriptions to be found there. This is the kind of store you wander and peruse with wonder.
I picked up two great vintage cookbooks from the Lowcountry and can’t wait to test out the recipes. A store devoted solely to cookbooks is not something I realized I needed…but I kinda really do.
