Mirepoix

This past weekend went by so quickly! I know it’s weird saying that when we’re quarantined and every day starts feeling the same. But I work hard to distinguish the workday from fun time and weekday from weekend so some weekends really do seem to fly by. I’m definitely ready to enjoy this weekend – especially since spring is in full force.

The Kentucky Derby has been rescheduled for September, but we still celebrated on Saturday. We got dressed up in seersucker and bowties to cheer for the ponies and, of course, made mint juleps. The drinks came out perfect but as much as I loved it, one was enough because it’s quite a pain to crush all that ice!

On Sunday we decided to take advantage of the gorgeous weather by going for a walk. A nearby coffee shop is open via window service so we picked up lattes and walked to Central Park. The original plan was to turn around but we decided we needed more time outside – we couldn’t let our face masks go to waste! 6.3 miles later, we walked back in the house, feeling rejuvenated by the change in scenery. The best part was walking through the Conservatory Garden. It was absolutely stunning with all the bright flowers in bloom.

We’ve been working on a new puzzle all week. It’s crazy how you lose track of time when you’re working on one of these!
