I can’t believe we’re already deep into July. Despite the heat wave, I only just now feel like I’ve really gotten comfortable with the summer and found a groove. The long weekend for 4th of July was just busy enough to keep things interesting without leaving us exhausted upon our return to work. Realizing we are 1/3 of the way through summer, my vacation planning is going into overdrive. I’ve finalized a big trip to Paris and am hoping to get to Massachusetts at the end of the month. Then I’d like to punctuate the rest of the summer with some long weekend trips to Savannah. Time to stop talking about it and just start booking flights!

Fourth of July this year was chill and lovely. We spent the day in Central Park with a picnic and the pool and then Matt, Karina, and their kids came over for the evening. We spent a few hours in the courtyard where the kids splashed around with water guns and a kiddie pool while we only needed to mildly supervise. The menu came together last minute and was presented with zero thought, but I thought it came out perfectly. It was delicious and not everything needs to be a production. We had burgers, brats, a tomato salad, a chopped salad, chips, pimento cheese, and shrimp salad. And popsicles for dessert.

After an impressive heat wave, we are now contending with a week of rain. I know Finn is disappointed that water day at camp was canceled, and I think nyc is pretty miserable in the rain, but it’s nice to have a bit of a reprieve from the heat.

My first Yankees game of the season! I had a blast and of course had to try the viral fried chicken ice cream. I have to admit, it was pretty good. Alas, I did not make it to Stan’s, but there’s always next time!
