Yup. This book was every bit as good as everyone has said. Between the fact that I was loving it and it was a generally quick read, I tore through it in 2 sittings. I could have done it in one day, easy.
The premise: Anne and Marco go to an intimate dinner party at the attached townhouse next door. Their babysitter has cancelled and Anne has been dealing with a bit of postpartum depression. She’s reluctant to go, but eventually agrees that everything will be fine as long as the bring the baby monitor with them and go home to check on her every 30 minutes like clockwork. They’re fewer than ten steps away…not much should be able to happen.
But when they arrive home late and tipsy they are shocked and horrified to discover that their baby Cora is gone, kidnapped. What follows is a bunch of finger pointing and Gone Girl level plot twists. If you’re into the genre, this is a fabulous read. I kind of figured out the culprit, but I didn’t quite put together the why or how of it all so it was no less exciting to read – plus, I had to figure out if I was right and learn how all the pieces fit together.
5 out of 5 stars.
