Book Review: A Stranger in the House

A was a big fan of Shari Lapena’s first novel, The Couple Next Door, so I didn’t even wait for her next novel, A Stranger in the House to come out in paperback before snagging it up.

Similar to Lapena’s first novel, this one takes place in an idyllic suburb.  But also like the first novel, things are not as perfect as they seem.  Tom Krupp comes home one evening to find his wife’s phone and purse but not his wife.  Soon, his worst fears are confirmed when he gets a visit from the police, telling him that Karen was in a car accident and is at the hospital.  Soon what looks to have been an accident appears to be much more, as a dead body turns up not far from the site of Karen’s crash.  Does Tom even know his wife at all?

4 out of 5 stars.
