I’m pretty sure I’ve never been away from home for more than four months…til now. Before my trip back for Thanksgiving, I had been away from Savannah for 7.5 months. It was a distance I felt deeply. Yes, NYC is home now, but Savannah will ALWAYS be home to me, and it was very good to be back. Even better was how relaxing the trip was. I really had a chance to decompress before coming back to some craziness at work.
I arrived in Savannah more than a day and a half before my beau. While it would have been nice to have him there the whole time, I did rather enjoy having some time when I had my nephews to myself. On Wednesday my Mom and I took them to the train park so they could run around. I had so much fun with them!
Since I hadn’t seen my family’s new beach house in person yet, we took a ride out to Hilton Head. On the way, we stopped in Bluffton to walk around and meet up with Bridget for lunch. Old Town Bluffton has gotten pretty cute with some great art shops. When I saw this moose outside one of them, I had to snap a pic!
On Saturday evening, my brother and sister in law hosted an oyster roast at their house. Oyster roasts are a lowcountry tradition and I loved being able to shuck them amidst the beautiful marsh scenery while hanging out with my fam. We had tvs set up both inside and outside so we could watch all the football games and had a fabulously laid back night.
