Mirepoix

Week four of quarantine, here we go! I’m still not going crazy…maybe I’m way more of a homebody than I ever thought? Grocery delivery has stopped (guessing due to overwhelming demand) so this whole thing is starting to feel much more real. And it’s Passover! I’ve never been a big fan of this holiday, but it feels particularly rough this year when I can’t distract myself from quarantine by testing out bread recipes and such.

I had a couple of great virtual happy hours recently. For one of them, I sipped on a cocktail Albert concocted. The ingredients are a bit random, but it was super tasty. I bet it would be even better with all fresh ingredients. The gist is: tequila, grapefruit, pineapple, guava, soda, and lime. It’s basically a paloma with a twist. Take it easy with the juices so it’s not too sweet, but it’s a stellar springtime drink.

Albert and I went on a run on Sunday. We don’t normally run together so it was a nice change. He usually runs in the opposite direction so I got some new sights. We ran into Central Park and it was the most beautiful day. The Conservatory Gardens were absolutely stunning. Sadly, I didn’t take a photo, but I think the park may have been the most beautiful I’ve seen in a really long time – and I’m not saying that just because I’ve been cooped up during quarantine.

One major lifestyle change during quarantine has been giving up our cleaning service. I know this is a first world problem, but all of a sudden I looked around and realized our apartment was capital D dusty. On Sunday, my beau swiffered the entire apartment and I’m in a much better mood all around. Not all heroes wear capes. He also picked up a ton of flowers for our anniversary. I love having fresh flowers everywhere – we’re spending so much time at home and flowers make it a much brighter, happier place.
